Who founded Building Blocks for Better Behavior?
Building Blocks for Better Behavior was co-founded by Abril Padrón, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Peter Clauter, a psychiatric nurse practitioner. They built it to put evidence-based parenting strategies directly into the hands of parents and pediatric clinics, instead of leaving them behind waitlists and high costs.
Abril Padrón, LPC

Hi, I'm Abril Padrón, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a PCIT-certified provider based in Austin, TX.
Over the past ten years, I've dedicated my career to working directly with families, helping them navigate the challenges of early childhood behavior. My approach is deeply rooted in the belief that strong, positive connections are the foundation for any meaningful behavioral change.
Growing up in a single-parent Hispanic household, I understand the everyday realities families face. In my clinical work, I also saw a recurring gap: the most effective, evidence-based strategies often remain inaccessible to the families who need them most, locked behind long waitlists and high costs.
I built this platform to bridge that gap because I deeply believe these tools should be available to every parent. I am incredibly passionate about getting these proven strategies directly into the hands of the families and professionals who need them most, removing the barriers to high-quality behavioral support.
My work centers around equipping caregivers with practical tools to reduce defiance and power struggles, while always prioritizing the parent-child relationship.

Peter Clauter, APRN, PMHNP-BC

I'm Peter Clauter, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who works with kids and adolescents ages 3 and up, seeing ADHD, Autism, and Eating Disorders all day. Kids are honest, hilarious, and genuinely trying their best. It's a privilege to be in their corner.
In my own practice I kept doing something that didn't make sense to keep doing alone. A family would come in for medication, and what they actually needed was parent training. So I'd teach it right there in the visit, knowing it could have reached them weeks or months earlier if it lived inside pediatric primary care. That's the whole idea behind Building Blocks.
Abril knows parent training cold. What I know is that families usually don't get this anywhere else, so they end up asking the providers they already see, their pediatrician, their nurse, me. Building Blocks puts the right tools in those hands.
